This project involved the design and construction
of a compact single-family residence that creates a high-functioning environment
for a family of four while implementing sustainable building techniques and using
low-maintenance materials. With the Alps as a backdrop, the design incorporates
the flowing use of architectonic elements, sliding panels, color and storage units,
which are placed as furniture to provide privacy. The exterior treatment presents
black slate, aluminum windows and panels. The design solution succeeds in creating
a warm and inviting residence based on a simple set of modern elements that produce
a unique looking object with a soul.
Jury Comments: "This project jumped
off the pages for its concise use of square planning and austere use of materials.
It has a surprising sensibility very thorough and very well organized.
There is a certain poetry in that kind of restraint."
